Tensile Sail Canopy Structures – Prestigious Cheapside London Installation
Shade Sculpture Ltd are pleased to announce yet another successful installation at the Prestigious Cheapside offices address in central London. Cheapside offices are situated in the heart of London’s most desirable and exclusive real estate locations, offering contemporary and luxury commercial accommodation to a wide variety of multi-national organisations. As such any tensile fabric canopy structure had to mirror the opulence of the buildings interior.
When contacted by the buildings interior architect, Shade Sculpture was presented with task to enhance the buildings interior whilst solving tenancy issues of privacy and zoning. Additionally Shade Sculptures’ solution had to be complimentary to existing architecture whilst overcoming obvious installation concerns. Working directly with the buildings controlling management Cushman & Wakefield Shade Sculpture put forward a CAD design solution to meet the myriad of requirements.
Purpose: As part of this Project, we planned use a tensile sail canopy structure to increase privacy and help zone a newly created reception and entrance area, exclusively for one the prestigious buildings tenants. Such a tensile fabric structure design also enabled our client Cushman & Wakefield to strengthen tenancy negotiations.
Design & Installation: The first issue to overcome was the lack of fixing locations from where sail canopies could be attached. To overcome this restriction we designed a cable bracket system with tensioned steel cables from where sails could be suspended between. The next issue to overcome was to locate fixing areas, calculate and confirm engineering’s before designing stainless steel bracketing that complimented the buildings existing architectural structural design. And finally, we had to provide a sail canopy design which offered an artistic installation with elements of privacy. The resulting design put forward meet all the clients requirements at first attempt. Meeting exacting deadlines, installation was carried out without any hiccups and was a resounding successful! Shade Sculpture’s design and installation team worked hard to fulfil this Project and surpass customer expectations.
Result: The result was a truly stunning tensile sail canopy structure that acts as both a privacy and whilst enhancing the stylish design of the newly created Reception area.
